Apparently the photos went thru, but not the message.
St Jean Pied de Port is nestled in the Foothills of the Pyrenees , a cute, quant little town, has a medieval feel, steep cobble stone roads, surrounded by a ancient stonewall. This is the gateway to the Camino and start of my long walk. It’s been raining for days and I hear we have a few more wet days. I need To back up a minute, I left Barcelona 5am this morning, flew to San sabastion, took a bus to Bayonne, then a spectacular scenic train ride here. In wet, cold weather. Not in one guide book, or any of my seasoned hikers, mentioned long johns, gloves or ear muffs. I am totally unprepared and freezing my ass off. I plan to chill in SJPP one more day, then set off sat. So for tonight, I settled into a hotel (26 euro, got a hot meal, paella(11 euro) and glass of wine(2 euro). Sorry I will be a true pilgrim Saturday when I climb 4000 ft. Buen Camino
