This is no exaggeration, today was the first day I was able to take off my rain jacket. I’ve been in the Rioja Wine Region for the last three days, beautiful vineyard after vineyard ( Spain’s Napa Valley) I’ve really accumulated a few blisters, and my knee is really sore. My last few days have been walk as long As I can ( averaging 12 miles) and get the boots off ASAP . The albergues after Villatuerta have been shit. Just a bed and shower. However last night in Torra del Rio ( cute town but horrible hostel) I offered to cook for everyone, not much to choice in the local market. So I did Penna pasta with chorizo, white beans cooked in tomtoes, garlic and onion. Turned out awesome of course, made lots of friends. Fun for me too. This morning 20 km to Logronose in sunshine, yes. Just to take off the rain gear was a treat. My body is hurting, had to say bye to friends today, it was very sad. I’m taking a 2 day rest in Muga Vineyard at a lovely hotel with a bathtub. My plan is the sleep, take a soak in the tub, hit the winery, sleep somemore. For the last 60 km it has been poppy fields as well as hops and vineyards. Also I have some shots of the churches and buildings over 600 yrs old, some older. The architecture is amazing, especially in the churches. I’m using my cellphone, so I apologize if they are not so great. Ok lots of photos to follow.
